I owned the first edition of this coloring book over a year ago. This version is a lot better with cleaner line arts and easier to color. I also own PDF version of this book. What I love about this book is that single sided, so I can use my markers after I put a piece of cardstock behind it so it won't bleed to the page behind it. It's perfect for markers users like me.
Now I have to admit, when I first saw the title, I thought “this is supposed to be adult coloring booksâ€. But when I saw the pictures, I fell in love. I enjoy Coloring clothes and there are plenty of dresses, pants, etc to satisfy that love. Plus the scenery is pretty. It tells the age old story so the memories I had of my mom and I reading the fable were a delightful bonus. The paper in Jade Summer Coloring books is always better than average. I used my Spectrum Noir Colorista Markers to Color the first page I did. There was the usual bleed through, that is common for alcohol markers. But with the designs printed only on one side of the page, you won’t loose any of your Coloring pages to ghosting. I find that Little Red Riding Hood is a delightful coloring book and I am glad I have it.
The pictures are simple and easy to color. The story was there, but you had to guess what was going on. The wolf threw up the grandmother, the woodcutter scolded the wolf for eating people and let him go, and after being in the wolf's stomach, she sat and ate food? I didn't like this.Plus, this is the same book with a different cover that was released in Jan 2017 that is now selling for about $50. Wow!I received a free PDF for this review.
I got this as an advanced readers copy. If you loved Red riding hood it is a great book, because is realistic and like the actual story and make up your own story to go with it, the pictures are so realistic. I like the wolf and the pictures of him. It shows the different faces and emotions on the wolf, being sweet playing grandma and fierce when trying to scare Red.
Absolutely one of my favorite books by Jade Summer. This book is a tad easier to color then the other Red Riding Hood book. So that new colorist and children can also enjoy coloring in it. The picture are so well drawn and bring you back to the story of Little Red Riding Hood as a child. There is no doubt or question if you should purchase this book. It's a must have!!
This was another great coloring book by the Jade Summer group. I am amazed at all of the different books they are coming out with. While they are simple to a point they also have enough desings in there to make those that are looking for a challenge happy. You can make all of these pages your own, that is always nice in a oloring book.
Even for someone not familiar with the Little Red RIding Hood tale, the layout of the images tells the story very well. Jade Summer turns out beautiful art, and I enjoy coloring it. For a teacher or library storyteller, this coloring book would be a wonderful way to use images in sequence to supprt a good story telling.
I have seen other works through previews of Jade Summer and wasn't expecting much more of an anime style of drawing. I love the drawing in this book and am going to be selfish and not share the one that I won. I love the details and the twist to the classic Red Riding Hood story. Keep up the great work!
